Our club is grateful to have so many new faces at Red Ledges, enjoying life in the Rocky Mountains. Things may have looked a bit different this past year, but we want to welcome you all to the club and introduce you to our amazing club staff – sans masks. Many of our employees, and senior level staff, have been at Red Ledges for over 10 years. The club does an amazing job of making everyone feel like they are at home. In the next Ledger, we will introduce more faces that make Red Ledges a spectucular place to be – including our golf maintainance staff, pool staff, sales team, member service team, executive team, and more.
JOHN JOHNSON – Club General Manager
John Johnson, aka JJ, has been at Red Ledges since day one. He is the glue that holds our club together, and knows most of our members by name. JJ is passionate about making Red Ledges a wonderful place for our owners to live. When JJ isn’t working he is spending time with his wife, his two sons, and a small dog named Cerrito. His family loves sports, and his two sons are incredible athletes – one is a baseball player and the other one a freeskier. JJ loves to golf, visit tropical destinations, and recently got a new camper that will be getting a lot of use this spring/summer.
DANIEL THOMPSON – Assistant General Manager, Food & Beverage Director
Many of us still know Daniel as “Chef”, but his promotion to Assistant GM was well-deserved, as he is the perfect fit after spending over 10 years at Red Ledges. When Daniel isn’t cooking a delicious meal and enjoying fine spirits, he loves to travel and enjoys international cuisine. His favorite trip was Japan and if he could re-visit anywhere – he would hop on a flight to Madrid. We also learned that you probably wouldn’t win if you played Daniel in Trivial Pursuit, because he is a man that knows many random facts.
STEPHANIE POTEMPA – Activities Director
Stephanie has been the Activities Director (aka, Director of Fun) for almost 10 years. She moved from the coast of North Carolina 21 years ago, and her background includes working for both the 2000 Summer and 2002 Winter Olympics. She never thought she’d leave the ocean, but quickly fell in love with the mountains and deserts of Utah. Steph loves doing anything outside including skiing, biking, surfing, camping in her teardrop camper and trail running. Her favorite part of the job is being outside and introducing Red Ledges members to the beauty of Utah!
MARYSE MITTS – Member Services Manager
Maryse hails from Australia and moved to the states at the end of 2010. Maryse met her husband in the US, and they live in Heber with their two large dogs, a one year old Irish wolfhound and a 10 year old husky mix. In their free time, they love summer activities including camping, paddleboarding, and fishing. When not traveling, they work on home improvement projects. Maryse’s background is in customer service and hospitality, which made her a great addition to the Member Services team in 2020.
CLARK NORRIS – Executive Chef
Promoting Clark to the Executive Chef at Red Ledges was a no brainer when Daniel took a big leap into the Assistant General Manager position. Clark has over 30 years working as the Executive Chef at Deer Valley Resort, which is known for their delicious cuisine, before joining us three years ago at Red Ledges. Clark’s creative touch and attention to detail is easy to see, and taste, with all of his menu items. When Clark isn’t in the kitchen, you can find him alpine ski touring, fly fishing, golfing, and hiking.
TREVOR BANGERTER – Executive Sous Chef
You may not know this about Trevor because he is always in the kitchen, but he loves to collect shoes! He has worked at Red Ledges for 8 years and always has a smile on his face. He’s getting ready to spend the summer at the Village Center and is an incredible chef with an Associates in Culinary Arts from Utah Valley University. As a Heber local, he likes to see live music, watch movies, go on hikes, and drive around beautiful Utah in his convertible.
GIO MELENDEZ – Lead Server – Juniper Grill
Gio has worked at Red Ledges for 10+ years and knows many of the members favorite dishes, plus he loves to meet new members as they join the club! He has been in the food service industry for 17 years, but before that he spent 17 years as an engineer. Gio’s name is pronounced with a hard “G” like the word “geezer” and not like “geography”. In Gio’s free time, he enjoys golfing, skiing, and playing pickleball. He also enjoying dining, wine tasting, and spending time with loved ones.
