Park City Hosts 2022/2023 Winter World Cup Events

December 2, 2022

It may be Salt Lake City, Utah that is most known for hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics, however, there are three venues within a 30-minute drive of Red Ledges in Heber Valley, UT. Twenty years after the Winter Games, these venues are still used to host various World Cup events.

These special events give locals the opportunity to watch the world’s best athletes compete live! Here’s a look at the calendar for the local 2022/2023 world cup events:

BMW IBSF Bobsled & Skeleton World Cup

December 1-3, 2022, at the Utah Olympic Park

park city skeleton world cupThe Utah Olympic Park was built to host ski jumping, Nordic combined events, bobsled, skeleton, and luge events for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Located in Park City, the Utah Olympic Park is about a 30-minute drive from Red Ledges—click here for directions.

Admission for spectators is free. There is a paved path that follows along the competition track that has several different viewpoints where spectators may look into the track to watch athletes speed by. Spectators may follow this path all the way up to the start house.

For the full event schedule, follow this link to the Utah Olympic Park website. Here you will also learn about the different winter festival activities which will be in the lower loop of the track. Here spectators will find a beer garden, food trucks, and more.

FIL Luge World Cup

December 16-17, 2022, at the Utah Olympic Park

According to Team USA, this is the first time since 2019 that the FIL Luge World Cup has come to North America. Admission for spectators is free. For the full event schedule, please follow this link.

Intermountain Healthcare Freestyle International Ski World Cup

February 2-4, 2023, at Deer Valley Ski Resort

According to Park City History Museum, Deer Valley hosted freestyle aerials and moguls for the 2002 Winter Olympics, but hosted their first World Cup event two years earlier in 2000. They have continued to host these events on the World Cup circuit.

These world cup events are hosted at the Snow Park Lodge which is about a 30-minute drive from Red Ledges, a bit further than the quick 15- minute drive Red Ledges members are accustomed to for skiing at Deer Valley.

Each night of the competition gives spectators the chance to watch athletes compete in different specialties:

  • Mogul Competition – February 2, 2022
  • Aerial Competition – February 3, 2023
  • Dual Mogul Competition – February 4, 2023

The event is free to attend, however, if you would like a VIP experience, there are tickets available for purchase. For ticking information and a detailed event schedule, please follow the link to Deer Valley’s website.

2023 PARA World Cup at Soldier Hollow

March 1-8, 2023, at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center

During the 2002 Winter Games, Soldier Hollow hosted the Nordic, Nordic combined, and Biathlon competitions — totaling 23 events. When the world cup events are over, Soldier Hollow offers rental equipment and day passes so that you can try the same terrain that the world’s best have skied.

Located in Midway, UT, this venue is only an 18-minute drive from Red Ledges. In this special World Cup event, spectators will be able to root for the world’s best Para Nordic skiers. As more information about this event becomes available, Soldier Hollow will publish information here.

If you would like to join these strong winter traditions in the Park City area, please contact our sales team
