Red Ledges Resort Community in Park City

Winter Wonderland of Fun at Red Ledges

December 2, 2018

Living at Red Ledges, a private community in beautiful Heber Valley near Park City, means more than having a home in a pristine location with spectacular views. It means a sense of community, an active lifestyle and fun. The winter months are no exception. In fact, the Heber Valley is famous for its beautiful winter views and world-famous snow. Living at Red Ledges truly means enjoying all that winter in Utah has to offer.

Red Ledges Ski Club is for skiers of all levels of experience and abilities. The club’s “home mountain” is Deer Valley Resort, but they also visit and ski at Alta, Snowbasin and Snowbird. The club gets out together at least eight different times throughout the season. They also ski twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the winter at Deer Valley for Rippin’ Wednesdays and Cruiser Thursdays. Whether you like rippin’ groomers, shredding the powder or simply drinking hot cocoa, there is something for everyone.

Downhill skiing is not the only type of skiing that residents of Red Ledges can enjoy. Cross-country skiing is also popular and many members ski together at Round Valley, in Park City, the Uintas and on Red Ledges property. The activities director at Red Ledges, Stephanie Potempa, offers instruction for first-time cross-country skiers. Time is spent discussing equipment, technique and terrain before putting on skis to practice basic skills.

The winter activities don’t stop there. Red Ledges’ snowy and wintry outdoors is truly a playground as sleigh rides, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are also offered. Red Ledges even grooms an eight-mile loop that can be used for cross-country skiing, hiking and snowshoeing on the property. Members love to get fresh air together and then warm up with a hot beverage and lunch at the Juniper Grill.

Not all activities are the typical winter sports. Tennis and pickle ball are played at Red Ledges year-round. The tennis courts are enclosed in a bubble to keep the winter outside while the courts are being used and enjoyed. There are a variety of tennis offerings throughout the entire year, including private or group lessons.

The highly regarded Jim McLean Golf School at Red Ledges includes winter training facilities as well as a state-of-the-art golf simulator that is located at the practice facility. Members are able to get their golfing practices in all winter so they are ready to play on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course when the snow is clear.

More winter activities are planned by Potempa and include exercise classes such as yoga, ski conditioning, Pilates and dance classes. She also organizes activities such as bowling, book club, wreath-making and other seasonal and holiday get-togethers. Everything is carefully planned and organized so that residents can choose whatever they would like to do. There is something for everyone and winter is many of the members’ favorite time of year.
