Let’s start with the basics…
My name is Cody. When I was adopted from Paws for Life Utah (PFLU.org), on September 14, 2017 as a five year old, my name was Cubbie. Since my humans aren’t Chicago Cub fans, they changed my name to something similar – Cody – which I love!
Who are your dog parents and what is your favorite thing about them?
Bob is my dad. I absolutely love hiking with him here at Red Ledges while he hunts for golf balls. My mom is Sandy. She has a special way of gazing into my eyes and giving me the best belly rubs.
What kind of dog are you?
I am herding dog – a McNab to be precise! Everyone thought I was a border collie/lab mix, BUT my parents found out that I’m a McNab. McNabs were bred by a Scot to withstand the tough conditions found in northern California such as heat, burrs, foxtails, and rugged terrain.
Who are your best friends?
My favorite playmates are my Red Ledges’ neighbors, Gracie and Cooper Bankhead.
Describe a perfect day at Red Ledges…
I love it when my humans go to the Golf Park. They let me run and sniff while they play golf, but I can hardly wait until we get to hole #12 so I can swim the entire length of the pond!
If you were a human, what would be some of your favorite things?
“Puppy Love,” by Paul Anka would be my favorite song. I love spring, summer and fall because my humans take me outside more. During the winter I have to stay inside when the grandkids go sledding because I run after them and puncture their inner tubes!
When was the last time you got into some mischief?
Once, when my humans left a cooked casserole on the kitchen counter, I knocked it down and ate it for MY dinner. It was delicious!
What else would you like the world to know about you?
I’m a herding dog and since that’s my instinctive nature, I can’t help it if I chase young humans. I wish they’d be more tolerant of me.
