Go fish!
This month our members had a great opportunity to go fly-fishing on the Provo River in Heber, which is only 10 minutes away from Red Ledges. After getting geared up with waders, boots, and fishing poles at the Wilderness Access Outfitters (WAO) storefront in Heber, the fly-fishing guides drove our members 5 minutes over to the Provo River. The Provo is a Blue Ribbon designated fishery, which means it is one of the best rivers to fish in the USA – and we are so lucky to have it in our backyard!
After a brief overview of fly-fishing techniques, bait, and history about the river, the WAO guides let our members get hands-on. They demonstated and taught our members how to properly cast, mend the line, and reel in fish. Within the four hours of practicing on the beautiful river, our members had each caught anywhere between 4-10 fish. That is a lot of fish(all catch and release)!
